Integrations & API
Your CRM should talk to everything else you already pay for.
Accounting, payments, email, SMS, WhatsApp, marketing and automation connected to the records that generate them. Supported connector installation and configuration are included with your SmartCo licence. There is no per-connector setup fee, and bespoke integrations are scoped before development.
If a system you depend on has an API, it can be connected. If it does not, we build around what it does provide.
The problem integrations solve
Every disconnected system is a re-keying job somebody does by hand.
An enquiry arrives in one place, the quote is written in another, the invoice is raised in a third, and the follow-up sits in somebody's inbox. Nothing is wrong with any single step. The cost is the copying between them, the version that did not get copied, and the hour a week each person spends keeping four systems in agreement.
Data entered more than once
The same customer typed into the CRM, the accounts package and a spreadsheet. Three records, three chances to diverge.
No single source of truth
When two systems disagree, somebody has to decide which one is right. That decision usually happens at month end, under time pressure.
Per-connector pricing
Platforms that charge for each integration, or gate them behind a higher plan, quietly make the connected version of your business the expensive version.
What connects
Six categories, all included.
These are the connections most SmartCo systems use. Anything not listed is a bespoke integration, which is scoped and agreed before anyone commits to it.
Your own systems
The one that actually matters. A documented REST API and secure webhooks, so the systems you already depend on can talk to SmartCo even if nobody has integrated with them before.
- REST API
- Secure webhooks
- Bespoke integrations, built to order
Accounting & finance
Invoices and payments reconcile against the job that created them, so month end stops being a re-keying exercise.
- Xero
- QuickBooks
- Sage
- Stripe payments
Communications
Email, SMS and WhatsApp sent from the record they belong to, and logged against it automatically.
- Microsoft 365
- SMTP / business email
- Twilio SMS
- WhatsApp Business
Marketing
Lists stay in step with the CRM, so nobody is emailing a lead who converted three weeks ago.
- Mailchimp
- Campaign sync
- Lead source tracking
Automation
The admin nobody should be doing by hand: routing, reminders, follow-ups and status changes.
- Zapier
- Secure webhooks
- AI chat support
- Scheduled workflows
Documents & e-signature
Generate from the record, send for signature, file the signed copy back against it.
- Document generation
- Adobe Sign roadmap
The API
Documented, versioned, and yours to build against.
Most CRM vendors treat API access as an upsell. On SmartCo it is part of how the platform is designed to be used, and it is the same interface our bespoke modules build against.
REST API
Read and write the records your system actually holds, with permissions that mirror the ones your users have.
- Token authentication
- Scoped per integration
- Rate limited and logged
Secure webhooks
Push events out the moment they happen rather than polling for changes that may not have occurred.
- Signed payloads
- Retry on failure
- Per-event subscriptions
Bespoke connectors
For the system that matters most to you and that nobody has ever integrated with.
- Scoped before it is built
- Maintained as part of support
- No per-connector charge
Common questions
Integrations, answered plainly.
Is there a charge for each integration?
No. Supported connector installation and configuration are included with your SmartCo licence. There is no per-connector setup fee. Bespoke integrations are scoped before development.
What if our system is not on the list?
If it exposes an API, it can usually be connected. If it does not, we can work with what it does provide, such as a scheduled export, file drop or database view. Bespoke work is scoped and agreed before it starts.
Who maintains the integration when the other platform changes?
We do. Integrations are maintained as part of ongoing support rather than being your problem the first time a vendor changes their API.
Can we build against the API ourselves?
Yes. The REST API and webhooks are documented and available to your own developers. It is the same interface our bespoke modules are built on.
Does connecting Xero or Sage mean our accounts data lives in the CRM?
Only what you choose to sync. The integration is configured around which records move, in which direction and how often. It does not need to mirror your entire accounts package.
Tell us which systems you are keeping.
Most integration conversations start with a list of things nobody wants to replace. That list is a good place to begin.
